It is art that makes life, makes interest, makes importance . . . and I know of no substitute whatever for the force and beauty of its process. --Henry James

Title: Japanese Model
This piece was inspired by the beauty models tend to possess. It shows that while something or someone is beautiful on the outside, there are still flaws within. Using Cubism to distort the naturally beautiful face of the model symbolizes this for me.

Words get in the way for me. Therefore, instead of a mouth, the woman has an elephant's trunk, representing the strength and peace I wish I had. The raven's wing also symbolizes strength. However, it's dual purpose is to symbolize freedom from the things that hinder me in life.

Title: Flying High
This piece reminds me of the gods, gold representing the beauty and morality of the all-knowing. The airplanes represent security. There is someone or something flying high above you to keep you protected. The spinning sculpture symbolizes the gods' never-ending life--and to know at all times that we have a destiny.
